Mitchell Case Study

At Oakley Green, we have worked on a wide range of properties. From modern 21st century homes to more traditional Victorian and Edwardian buildings, we always ensure that every installation is completed to the highest standards. Whether working on a town house or a rurally located property, our insistence on excellence remains the same.

Stunning rural character property

Thatched cottage

One of our most recent installation projects was at a unique thatched character property in the village of Edington in Wiltshire. A small rural village, Edington is located six miles away from the county town of Trowbridge and sits just under the north slope of Salisbury Plain. The property was located in a conservation area, which meant that the installation had to be sensitive to the area’s character.

The Mitchell family chose Oakley Green because they had heard good things about the quality of our workmanship and outstanding customer care. The installation involved replacing all the windows and doors with tasteful uPVC alternatives.

Thatched cottage transformation

The conservation area location dictated that the installation must be in keeping with the area’s overall aesthetic. The cottage-style windows and entrance doors were therefore specified with a black ash exterior to suit the conservation area appearance. Astragal bars were also used to re-create the appearance of the cottage-style windows which were being replaced.

The Mitchell family decided that they would like a different colour for the interior of the windows and doors. They chose an attractive rosewood finish to perfectly complement the existing wooden beams throughout the property’s interior. The final effect is tasteful and completely in keeping with the area’s heritage character.

Mr Mitchell was delighted with the completed installation commenting: ‘We are extremely happy with the finished installation and would have no hesitation in recommending Oakley Green to others. In particular a special thank you to Neil for his professionalism, forbearance and courtesy in dealing with us and resolving the post-fitting issues. He is an excellent ambassador for your company.’
