Wokingham home adds a new uPVC Victorian conservatory

Towards the end of 2018, we were contacted by Mr. Raymond Lewis to discuss the possibility of building a conservatory at their home. The Lewis family had wanted to install a conservatory at their home in Wokingham for some time so that they could relax and enjoy the wildlife in their garden. After the initial consultation, we agreed that a Victorian style conservatory would best suit their property and functional requirements. Plans were drawn up and the ground work was soon begun.

Stylish new build Victorian conservatory

Small Conservatory

Firstly, the foundations for the conservatory were constructed to support the conservatory’s structure. A dwarf brick-wall was then erected to support the uPVC frames. Once the dwarf wall was complete, we were able to install the uPVC windows and uPVC French doors. The French doors lead directly out onto a small patio area which runs along the rear of the original property.

The Lewis family chose white for the uPVC frames to match the white cladding on the upper section of the property exterior. The casement windows are a combination of wide opening double hinged French door style windows and windows with smaller top opening sections. This selection of window openings allows the Lewis family to open up the windows wide to ventilate their conservatory when necessary and also use the top opening windows when only a small amount of ventilation is required.

Classic Ultraframe roof

Conservatory Roof

For the conservatory roof, we suggested a classic roof from Ultraframe. Ultraframe are industry leaders in the replacement conservatory roof market. Their roofing systems provide outstanding levels of thermal performance and can be customised to meet a variety of design specifications. For the Lewis family, the new roof was matched to the Victorian style of the new conservatory’s shape.

The Victorian design features a faceted multi-pane glass structure with feature apex ridge. For their conservatory, the Lewis family opted for a flat ridge section rather than an ornate roof ridge which they felt better complemented their more modern property. To ensure that the conservatory was weather tight throughout, we attached durable flashing to connect the conservatory roof to the property’s exterior cladding.

Another satisfied Oakley customer

The Lewis family are delighted with the quality of their new conservatory and the overall standard of service provided by Oakley Green. They left us this glowing review of which we are extremely proud: ‘We had a Victorian conservatory built by Oakley Green late in 2018 and were very impressed with the result. We had Andy out to measure and design and from his visit all the way through everything happened as per the schedule and completed successfully within 6 weeks. Chris started the base work and all the others that came were friendly, tidy and a pleasure to have working at our home. Several options were available but glad we chose Oakley Green.’
