Winnersh home upgrades an old conservatory

Conservatory upgrade

For this conservatory upgrade project, we travelled to the village of Winnersh on the outskirts of Reading in Berkshire. The Goodwin family home featured an old wood-framed conservatory with polycarbonate roof which had become inefficient and looked tired and dated. They wanted to improve the existing conservatory to create a stylish year round usable living space.

New uPVC windows and French doors

Small Conservatory

The Goodwins were happy with the layout and design of the conservatory and opted for replacement windows and doors which resembled the originals. For their new windows they opted for a rosewood finish on the exterior to match the existing property’s windows and stand out against the white painted facade of the house.

Matching French doors were chosen which open outwards onto a decked patio area with table and seating. Both the French doors and new windows were dual coloured. The rosewood exterior is classy and perfectly complements the property’s appearance while inside the white frames create a bright and fresh ‘look’ to the interior living area.

High performance Ultraroof

Conservatory upgrade

To complete the installation, the Goodwins chose to replace the existing polycarbonate roof with a lightweight tiled Ultraroof from Ultraframe. They chose slate grey tiles which are stylish and understated and incorporated two glazed panels into the design to boost natural light admission. Inside, a plastered perimeter ceiling has been fitted with spotlights to create a cosy atmosphere and polished gold handles were chosen on the doors and windows to create a high-end appearance which matches the overall quality of the installation.

The Goodwins were extremely happy with the completed installation and left us this glowing Facebook review:

‘Oakley have recently replaced our old timber conservatory, using the existing base they replaced with a dark wood look to the outside and white inside. We have had an insulated tiled roof with roof lights in (instead of an all clear Perspex roof) and we are amazed at how warm our new room has been since they finished two months ago. The whole experience was a pleasure from ordering and having finished two weeks before Christmas. Their staff being very polite and amenable to any requests made of them, all appointments being made as promised. We are very pleased with the finished product and would recommend Oakley Green to anyone considering using them.’
