Modern home extension in Woodley, Reading

This new build extension project was located in the town of Woodley, a large suburb of Reading. Peter and Rachel Boakes had been browsing the Oakley Green website and were impressed with what they’d seen. They wanted to extend their home and liked the roof products which we had available. After contacting us, we set the ball rolling for the extension project.

High performing UltraROOF

The Boakes family chose an UltraROOF for their extension’s roofing system. They opted for Carbon Grey lightweight tiles with two full-length glazed panels. The new roof sits on top of a solid brick structure and slopes downwards from the main property’s exterior. Inside the extension, all walls and ceiling areas have been plastered and we installed stylish downlights into the ceiling.

Innovative aluminium bi-fold doors

To create a super-wide opening and a seamless transition between interior and exterior living areas, the Boakes family chose a set of aluminium bi-fold doors to access their extension. The three folding door leafs neatly fold back opening outwards into the garden area to maximise interior floor space. They chose anthracite grey to match the roof’s grey tiles and to create a contemporary appearance for their home.

Stylish open plan living

One of the priorities for the Boakes family was to create a more open feel to their home. To help them achieve this, we removed the existing kitchen door and widened the kitchen window, installing a new lintel to support the wider aperture. Mr and Mrs Boakes can now enjoy views through their extension while preparing food and drinks in their kitchen.

Another happy Oakley customer

The Boakes family were absolutely delighted with their new extension. They left us this positive five-star review, of which we are very proud:

‘Initially we contacted Oakley due to the roof product we had seen on their website, it was exactly what we had been looking for. After initial contact the salesman, Andy, popped over to discuss our requirements and brought a sample of the glass that would make up the panel in the roof. We ran through an estimate of project cost, this was then itemised so the cost of everything was to be seen clearly. Then followed a survey to nail down measurements and fine tune requirements. The build itself took 4 weeks and all the crews involved were great and communication with the office was easy and efficient. The end result is great and exactly what we wanted but better than we imagined.’
